Miltonia moreliana
Miltonia moreliana
Syn. Miltonia spectabilis v. moreliana
Compared to Miltoniopsis, which can be finicky, “challenge plants” for many, Miltonia moreliana is among the more accommodating Miltonia varieties. An easy-growing species, Milt. moreliana is tolerant of various conditions and can be adapted to grow alongside Vandas, Catts, or Oncidiums (see care tips below).
Grown from seed (sib cross).
Plants Available: Growing in 4” pots and 6” net baskets. Plants in net baskets are potted in tree fern. The 6” Net Basket - Lg option is shown. Plants available are mature—in spike/bloom as blooming season and blooming stock permit; otherwise plants that have bloomed previously.
Orchid Care: A warm-growing Miltonia. Grow in very bright light, potted or mounted. Plants should be watered just as they are drying out. Bear this in mind when choosing whether to pot or mount your plants so you can select the most appropriate media for the growing conditions. We recommend baskets for when plants are grown alongside Vandas. Some sphagnum may be appropriate as a potting medium, so long as the moss does not remain soggy or sopping. Tree fern fiber is also a great option for potting—perhaps even preferable to sphagnum!
A “weekly, weakly” fertilizing regimen will suit these plants just fine.
